Setting your 📨 notifications
Nothing on Unusual Whales should be construed as an offer to sell, a solicitation of an offer to buy, or a recommendation for any security by Unusual Whales or any third party. Your use of ideas, systems, and/or data provided by Unusual Whales are at your own risk and it is your sole responsibility to evaluate the accuracy, completeness, and usefulness of the information. Please read the terms.
⚠️ These settings MUST be properly configured for you to receive notifications. You MUST have the mobile application installed on your device in order to receive mobile notifications. We do not offer SMS or email alerts at this time.
Click here for a 📺 Video demonstration on Notification settings.
The default 📨 Notifications page will look like this:
You can configure these settings anyway you’d like.
🚧 FURU Notifications currently do not lead anywhere inside the app itself. The notification is simply that: a notification. Please bear with us while we continue to update our product! 🚧
📨 Notification types
There are three available notification settings for the alerts. Recommended, Custom, and All. Please continue reading for more information.
Recommended alerts will be selected by default. These won’t necessarily be the ‘best’ alerts, but they are the most actionable and unusual. To reiterate, nothing on Unusual Whales should be construed as an offer to sell, a solicitation of an offer to buy, or a recommendation for any security by Unusual Whales or any third party. That said, ‘recommended’ notifications tend to be directional alerts where there is a clear direction that whales are attempting to force. You’ll still be able to view all the alerts (in the application, the website, and on Discord), but only the highest priority notifications will be sent to your desktop or mobile device. We would suggest users try the Recommended settings first.
If you’d like to receive notifications for all alerts, select All. Please note that All might be quite overwhelming, as you can expect to receive well over 100 alerts daily.
You can create Custom notifications to ONLY be alerted to alerts that match your criteria. These custom notification settings allow you to filter for: alert dollar amount, emoji(s), expiration date, implied volatility, open interest, specific tickers, and more. For more on setting your custom notifications, please continue reading.
ℹ️ You can receive both Recommended and Custom notifications (ONLY if you’ve created them!) by selecting Recommended.
⚙️ Creating custom notifications
You can create custom notifications in order to help you filter the noise.
⚠️ If you are having trouble editing the fields please try again using a Desktop with the Chrome browser.
ℹ️ You can name your watchlists as well. As long as you’ve enabled custom notifications, any alerts that match any of your custom watchlists will be sent to your phone, and will be labeled by “WATCHLIST: YourWatchlistNameHere."
⚙️ The current filter parameters are as follows:
- Ask- the Ask price of the contract
- Bid- the Bid price of the contract
- Delta- the option’s Delta
- Dollar amount- equivalent to the alert’s “Daily $ Volume” (The amount of premium that has changed hands given the daily volume on this contract)
- Emoji- associated emojis
- Expires in- select the number of days to expiration
- Expiry date- select a specific expiration date
- Gamma- the option’s Gamma
- Implied Volatility- the option’s implied volatility
- Open Interest- OI (or Open Interest)
- Option type- Call or Put
- Sector- which financial sector the underlying falls under
- Theta- the option’s Theta
- Ticker_Symbol- the underlying ticker
- Vega- the option’s Vega
- Vol_oi- the volume to open interest ratio, expressed as a number
- Volume- Volume
ℹ️ When utilizing the IV filter: please input ‘1.00’ to represent 100% IV, ‘.75’ to represent 75% IV, etc
ℹ️ You may need to add a zero to the front of values that are less than 1 (0.1, 0.2, etc)
📝 You can get an idea of how narrow or wide the totality of your search parameters are. Once you’ve created some watchlists, visit the Your Whales/My Hunt page to see all recent alerts that match your custom criteria. You can also view these alerts on the mobile application: on the ‘Alert’ tab, select “Your Hunt”.
